Out of Hours

Out of Hours Care

If you need urgent medical care when the Centre is closed, please call Oxfordshire’s Urgent Care Service (formerly known as the Out of Hours Service) on 0845 345 8995. You will then speak to a call handler who will direct your call to the most appropriate person to deal with your problem, either a doctor, nurse or paramedic. If they think you need to be seen, you will be invited to the Out of Hours base at the Out-patient department, Horton General Hospital, unless your medical condition prevents you from leaving home in which case a doctor, nurse or paramedic will visit you at home.

If you simply want medical advice, telephone NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for health information and advice, 24 hours a day, or visit their website www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. If English is not your first language, NHS Direct provides a confidential interpreter service in many other languages. For deaf people and those hard of hearing, a text phone service is available on 0845 606 4647.
