Prescriptions
Banbury Health Centre does not have an on-site pharmacy, however there are several pharmacies located nearby where patients can have their prescription dispensed. Our receptionists will be able to direct you to the nearest pharmacy.
Repeat prescriptions
If you are a registered patient of the Centre and need to take medication on a long term basis, you can order repeat medication by completing a Repeat Prescription form, available from our reception desk. This form can be returned in person to the receptionist, by post, fax or through our on-line repeat medication ordering service. We do not accept telephone requests for repeat medication.
Please allow 48 hours for us to process your request. You must allow an extra day if you want your prescription to be forwarded direct to a pharmacy ready for collection.
To ensure we provide you with the most effective care we will conduct a review of your medication at regular intervals. This may require you to attend an appointment with a clinician before a repeat prescription can be issued. In such instances, we will ensure there is no break in continuity if your care.
If you require medication that is not on your repeat medication list then you will need to discuss this with a GP first. The easiest way to do this is by arranging a telephone consultation.
Unregistered patients
We are unable to provide medicines that an unregistered patient normally gets on repeat prescription from their own GP. In exceptional circumstances, if a patient is visiting from out of the area and cannot get to their registered GP on the next working day, we may be able to provide a limited supply of some medicines, but not all.
Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice, and sometimes emergency medication, at any time – you don’t need an appointment. Many pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis. Call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for details of pharmacies open in the area out of hours.
